Deddick Trail Easter Trip

Trip Rating - Difficult

Starting at lunch time in Orbost on Good Friday we will travel to near the start the Deddick Trail.

Saturday will be spent driving the iconic Deddick Trail descending the legendary Staircase before camping on the Deddick River.

Sunday is an easier day with a visit to McKillops Bridge and the Little River Gorge.

On Monday we will explore some of the little traveled tracks up to the Nunniong Plain before ending the trip in Ensay. Expect some rocky sections on Saturday and eroded tracks on Monday.

This region is known for black soil tracks which become boggy when wet.t

Trip - Medium - depending on weather conditions

Travel through the sandy Wyperfeld Nat Park via Lake Albacutya, circling the Big desert via the sand dunes at Ross Springs.

After travelling through the 'Disputed Country', we will cross into SA & head south along the Border Track.

We will experience some interesting sand dunes & bog holes, before finishing in Nhill. .

Our Trip will start at Lake Nillahcootie on Saturday morning where we will head towards Golden view and later Sandy creek falls which will be our camp for the night.

On Sunday we will visit Black Dog lookout (an old Ned Kelly hang out). From here we will head towards Lima Falls, then cross rock Ned & climb the mighty Mt Buggery to take in the views before heading for home .

Trip - Easy to Hard

Travel the furthest you can by car from Melbourne to experience some of the finest dust and corrugations the Kimberley region can offer.

Starting out in Alice Springs this is a fast paced trip packing in as much as possible into 4 weeks.

Highlights include the Bungles, Kununurra (and surrounds), El Questro Station, Mitchell Falls, Mt Elizabeth Station (Munja Tk), Mornington Station (Dimond Gorge) and Windjana Gorge to name but a few..

For some variety there will also be some rough off road sections such as the Karunjie Tk, Walsh Point Tk and Munja Tk .

Our Trip will start Thursday night @ sheep yard flats ready for an early start.

Friday morning we will head towards lovicks hut & Zeka spur track to our 1st camp at Wonnangatta Station.

Saturday will see us head up Cynthia range over Billy Goats Bluff to the Pinnacles lookout. Saturday night will see us camped on Howitt’s high plains.

Sunday morning, we will head back towards Sheepyards flats where our trip will end.

Note: Please be aware this trip runs over 3 days

Trip - Medium to Difficult (outback extended travel)

This iconic outback trip will proceed along the CSR north to south, the same direction the drovers used as they took cattle from the east Kimberley region to the markets of the WA goldfields. There will be two side visits - Balgo to visit the Art Centre, and Rudall River National Park.

There will be a couple of rest days along the way at the spectacular Desert Queen Baths and at Durba Springs.

Further details to be provided at a pre-trip briefing along with a pre-trip check list to help people prepare.

No pets or firearms. Only suitable camper trailers will be considered.

Little Desert 2020

The Little Desert has a lot to offer in winter! Sand driving, optional bog holes, differing scenery and wildlife.

This has been a popular trip over the years and following last years hiatus, we are getting itchy to hit it again! Come along and enjoy the fun. *Spots will be reserved for new members* So if you have not managed to make a club trip, get you application in now.

Saturday - we will head off as 1 convoy of 20 to the central section of the park before splitting into 2 convoys. 
Sunday - Each convoy will be heading in separate directions and will meet back at camp in the afternoon. 
Monday – Free day, enjoy the camp site, head back into the desert or head home at your convenience.

Trip - Medium to Difficult (outback travel)

Our trip will start in Melbourne & head to Birsdsville, visiting the sites along the way.

Our first adventure will be to 4WD over the famous Big Red. From here, we will head out to follow the Madigan line across the Northern Simpson, via Hays Track.

We will be remote for most of the journey, traversing the 1000 odd dunes along the way. The plan is to cross the desert in 7 days and ending the trip at Mt Dare.

Further details to be provided at the pre-trip briefing along with an pre-trip check list to help people prepare.The desert passes will need to be purchased for both the Simpson Desert, Sturt NP and Coongie Lakes NP.

Gulf Country - East Arnhem Land

Trip - Outback touring - Medium - some river crossings

Visit the southern and western Queensland / NT gulf country, visiting Riversleigh fossil sites, Adel’s Grove, Lawn Hill NP, Caranbirini Conservation Reserve, Lorella Spring, Limmen NP, then on to Katherine.

From Katherine, travel to East Arnhem Land: Gove Peninsular, Nhulunbuy and surrounds.

The trip concludes in Nhulunbuy prior to the commencement of the Garma Festival (31 Jul - 3 Aug). There may be opportunities to work at this event as volunteers.

Murray Sunset & Wyperfeld
(Melb Cup Extended Weekend Trip)

Trip - Medium in dry - Difficult if wet

Our Trip will start at banks of the Murray River on Friday night.

Saturday morning will see us head of to try & locate the junction of theVic,SA & NSW borders which will require a 1½ hr walk. From here we will follow the start of the border track crossing the Stuart hwy to our 1st camp.

Sunday will see us head towards Rocket Lake & on towards Mt Crozier which requires a short climb to check out the views.

Monday we will head via the pink lakes into Wyperfeld National park & finish at Snowdrift for a slide down the natural white dunes.

Tuesday will see us head down the sandy freeway track which is always fun finishing up at Wonga Campground where our trip will end.

A great trip for those looking to experience their first sand driving experience or the more experienced with the fast-sandy tracks later in the trip.
