Wonnangatta Revisited

This exciting High Country trip follows the Buckland River
where we will make our first night's camp.

On Thursday morning, we take in the spectacular views from Mt Murray
before heading down along the Humphrey River for another overnight camp.

Friday will take us into the magnificent Wonnangatta Valley where we camp
for 2 nights before exiting via the cynthia Range Track to Dargo.

Preference given to new members & or members with young children
(Trip Leader will have 6 & 9 year olds in tow).

Bush Camping and 4WDing thru Rubicon State Forest and heading back to Melbourne on Sunday.
A Campfire will be waiting for those who can make it on the Friday night.
We will be leaving camp on Saturday morning at 9.00am.
Returning to camp early Saturday afternoon to collect firewood for the evening campfire.
Sunday morning pack up camp and depart at 10.00am following forest roads
back towards melbourne and finishing in the Yarra Glen area.

We travel north across the Nullarbor Plain to Forrest and, then
via various tracks across the Great Victoria Desert - also using portions
of the Connie Sue Highway, Anne Beadell Highway, Hanns Track (un-mapped section),
and the Great Central Road - to Warburton.

From there, it's north up the Sandy Blight Junction Road and east on the Gary Junction Road to The Alice.

Lock your Hubs!  Mt Skene Snow Trip

A large, exciting & family friendly weekend trip to Mt Skene to experience
some of the best snow driving in Victoria.

We will be based at Mansfield, from where we will travel up to Mt Skene
to drive in the snow, have some fun, and then return to the Jamieson Brewery and socialise! 

New members are encouraged to come along.

Vehicles will be split into two groups with two trips run concurrently
to ensure that the large number of vehicles run smoothly.

Canning Stock route (CSR)
Alice Springs to Billiluna to Wiluna
(Outback Trip)  

31 July - 26 August, 2016

Trip Rating - Medium to Difficult

We will travel quickly from Alice Springs along the Tanami Track for 2 days to Billiluna
on the northern end of the CSR, and then at a more leisurely pace
head south for 11 days to Georgia Bore.

We will then make a westerly diversion for 5 days to the Karlamilyi National Park, and purchase fuel.

After returning to the CSR, we will continue south for 9 days to Wiluna - the end of the CSR.

A leisurely to moderate tour pace is anticipated, averaging about 100km per day while on the CSR,
with 4 rest days over 27 days, and a total distance of 3200 kms.

Mt Skene South Side Snow Trip

Starting in Licola this trip will tackle Mt Skene from the lesser used southern side
of the mountain avoiding the crowds on the opposite side.
Come prepare to camp the night above the snow line as our final campsite
will depend on snow conditions.

Saturday will be a full day travelling the McDonald Hwy and other tracks
through the Little Desert. Carry sufficient water and food for a couple of days just in case.

Mt Murray, Blue Rag & Mayford

Explore the Buckland Valley on the way to Mt Murray.

If the weather permits we will camp near the top of Mt Murray on the Saturday night.

On Sunday we will check out the magical views from Blue Rag,
then head down the steep decent to camp on the Dargo River at the old Mayford townsite.

Monday will see us return to the Great Alpine way at Mt St Bernard where the trip will conclude.

Sandy Wyperfeld NP & Vic/SA border Track

Travel through the sandy Wyperfeld Nat Park via Lake Albacutya, circling the Big desert via Ross Springs.

We will then travel through the 'Disputed Country' before crossing into SA & heading down the Centre Track.

We will join the Vic/SA Border Track at the bottom of the One Way section.

We will experience some interesting sand dunes & bog holes, before finishing in Nhill.

A great way to give value back to the High Country. Dulcie had organised
another great Working Bee near Aberfeldy (just north of Walhalla).

Over the weekend we will be cleaning up the Historical sites
in and around Jericho cemetery and township and along the Walhalla/Woods Point road.

We will also explore some of the tracks in and around our historical sites
on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

Mt Robertson Ridge Rambler

We are revisiting one of our older and more popular day trips.
We have only returned to this area a few times since the 2009 fires.

The regrowth has been great, but there is still evidence of the fire damage.

Views from the ridges and spurs into the valleys on either side are excellent.

With a bit of ever present dampness from the forest the tracks are fun,
add some rain and it's sure to make a few sections more challenging.

Mount Gentle Annie Recce

This trip tackles the forest tracks in Labertouche area and will include Robertson Creek Fire Line,
South Hells Gate, Mount Gentle Annie and Westerns Fire Break.

This is a recce trip for a larger convoy day trip in March so expect a bit of back tracking
and navigation adjustments as we put together a club a trip.

Tracks in this area can become impassable after heavy rain and as such the final route may vary.

Avon River Adventure

We will head north, crossing the Avon River & Ben Cruachan Creek many times.

We then head east following the southern edge of the Avon Wilderness area & camp on the Avon River.

On Sunday we will retrace steps to the Ben Cruachan Creek, then head up to Ben Cruachan
to take in the great views. We continue to follow the Ben Cruachan Creek and then climb up
to McMillans Lookout to take in the views.

We will descend from McMillans & finish our trip near Cheynes Bridge, just south of Licola.
