TLCV President Garry Cooper, organised 7 vehicles to take an early winter
trip into Central Australian sunshine.
Their
journey started in Ouyen in NW Victoria and headed up the Oodnadatta Track
to Dalhousie Springs.
One
highlight on this trip was to visit the Oodnadatta (horse racing) Cup. Other
events at the Cup were enjoyed with the locals. (See the pics for details)
Garry
took his convoy through the sandy Simpson Desert via the French Line,
passing through Poeppel Corner and across the flowing Eyre Creek. The final
assault before heading into Birdsville was to conquer Big Red.
The
final leg of Garry's journey took the convoy down through Cordillo Downs.
Rain started to fall making the journey into Innamincka an interesting
experience.
30mm
of rain fell overnight which resulted in the convoy being stuck in
Innamincka for 7 days.
The
convoy finally headed home a week late and with plenty of stories to tell.
