This trip started in the outback Victorian border town of Corryong. Our journey took us south on the Benambra Corryong Road. Our 4WDing commenced when we turned onto the Wild Boar Track. This interesting track allowed us to check out the Wheelers Creek hut, which is situated on Wheelers Creek.

Being dry, our convoy headed up the 'dry weather only' Shady Creek Upper Track. Our trip leaders had previously attempted this track in the wet and relayed their interesting experiences of that trip.

Excitement was looming as we rose in altitude and finally arrived at the summit of Mt Pinnibar up at 1,772M. The panoramic views from the summit are truly sensational. Australia's highest mountain Mt Kosciuszko, can be also seen form this great vantage point.

With dark clouds gathering, it was time to vacate the mountain and head for our evening camp at Tom Groggin on the banks of the Murray River. We arrived in camp just as the heavens opened up for an hour with heavy rain, hail, thunder & lightning.

Kinder weather greeted us the following day as we climbed up onto Davies Plain.  Davies hut was great to visit as well as seeing the revegetation after the 2003 & 2007 bush fires.

After a side trip down Kings Plain Track, we continued across Davies Plain to camp on the banks of the lovely Buckwong Creek.

The following morning our convoy descended from Davies Plain and experienced some interesting 4WDing along the Limestone Creek track. Upon reaching the Benambra Black Mountain Road, it was time to head for home.
