With wet weather expected, the Haunted Stream was a place to visit. Leaving the bitumen just south of Swifts Creek in East Gippsland, our convoy headed down to the stream to enjoy the 54 river crossings before arriving at Dawson City. After enjoying about 10 river crossings, our journey was halted by a temporary track closure near Dogtown due to recent flood damage. With our travel plans quickly revised, we were soon heading up the interesting Stirling track. With lunch finishing with drops of rain, it was time to head off for Camms Top Place. This required some concentration as we headed down the rocky Danes Track before crossing the rising Wentworth River. Camp was set up at Camms Top Place on our own in the rain. Our trip leaders big tarp came to the rescue as everybody squeezed under it for a relaxed happy hour. When the rain finally stopped, the camp fire was started so dinner could be cooked over the warm fire. Sunday morning took us across Danes Creek before taking on the steep climb of Murdering Spur. After a morning tea stop on the Dargo river and a look at Harrisons Cutting, this exciting trip wound up on the Dargo River at Ollys Jump Up.
