Driver training courses conducted by the club are considered by many to be the best available. Members are required to complete this course before participating in club trips.

The course consists of a night of theory held at the Mulgrave Country Club in Wheelers Hill and a practical course held at the clubs property at Yarck (near Mansfield).

The theory course covers most aspects of 4WD and includes use of CB radio, driving in different conditions, recovery gear, winching, tyres and accessories.

The practical section includes driving through deep water and mud, stopping and starting on steep hills, proper use of snatch straps, correct use of winches and pulleys.

Drivers completing this course can feel confident in the safe use of their 4WD in most conditions.
